Sydney Film Festival 2025

The 72nd Sydney Film Festival returns from June 4 to 15, 2025, transforming the city into a vibrant hub of cinema, culture, and creativity. Over 12 days, the festival will screen more than 200 films from over 70 countries — including numerous world and Australian premieres — offering something for everyone, from cinephiles to casual moviegoers.

The 2025 program highlights include:

Opening Night Film: Together, a supernatural body horror feature starring Alison Brie and Dave Franco.

Closing Night Film: Splitsville, a comedy directed by Michael Angelo Covino.

Official Competition: Includes standout films like Jafar Panahi’s It Was Just an Accident and Kelly Reichardt’s The Mastermind, a 1970s-set art heist drama.

Special Screenings: Notable entries include The Life of Chuck with Tom Hiddleston, Amy Wang’s satirical thriller Slanted, and the queer romance On Swift Horses featuring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Jacob Elordi.

Events and screenings will be held at some of Sydney’s most beloved venues, including the State Theatre, Dendy Newtown, Ritz Randwick, Palace Cinemas, Sydney Town Hall, and more.
